Background
I grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Vassar College with an A.B. in
History. After a stint waiting tables and volunteering for the Dukakis campaign,
I worked on Capitol Hill and then for a trade association in Washington, DC
before attending law school (also in DC). Following law school, I worked as
an attorney in the business affairs office of the national headquarters of
public broadcasting, PBS. While working there, I began a Master of Arts in
Creative Writing at Johns Hopkins University (completed in May 2005). In the
fall of 2001, I moved back to the New York metropolitan area and studied yoga
full time. I returned to DC in the fall of 2003 and nilambu began.
