nilambu's
Voyage
nilambu is a Bengali word (the modern day equivalent to Sanskrit). Nil translates
as “blue” and ambu means "water." Blue water. Together nilambu literally
means ocean. Evoking the sea captures
the memory
of an influential trip to the British West Indies where nilambu was born.
Why I Teach
My motivation to teach is grounded deeply in my experience
of yoga. During my first yoga retreat at Parrot Cay in April 2002, I encountered the exuberance of vinyasa yoga and the power of meditation.
On the flight back, I formulated my desire to share yoga into tangible a dream while I considered how to make my vision a reality.

yoga to others, go to this area.
How I Began Yoga
I began to take yoga classes because of a love affair. And
that affair led to another affair with yoga that continues today. Discover
how love led me
to yoga here.

Education
& Credentials

application to their prestigious teacher training program. Over 200 hours of study qualified me to register with the Yoga Alliance. To find out what that training entailed, go to this area. Also

My Obstacle
nilambu’s beginning commenced with a void of vitality. A yogini since 1995, yoga became more pivotal as I faced the challenge
of a chronic neuro-muscular disorder. Yoga alleviated my physical symptoms but also
helped me cope with my new reality. nilambu exists because of my growing understanding
of yoga and health. Read more here.
Other Background
Find out about my other background and education unrelated
to yoga directly. All of my life experience informs my yoga practice and teaching
including
graduate degrees in law and writing.
