About nilambu yoga
nilambu is a Bengali word (the modern day equivalent to Sanskrit).
nil = blue
ambu = water
Evoking the sea captures the memory of an influential trip to the British West Indies where nilambu was born.
My Values + Mission
Our mission is to help you befriend yourself. We create space for magic to happen and to radically expand your yoga practice. We have other aims and goals for you too. And principles. More here!
I want to live in a world where everyone can say “yoga saved my life.” Okay, I’ll settle for changed your life, but I’m really going for saved. A perpetual student, I just love sharing what I’ve learned and experienced through yoga. BKS Iyengar said, Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured. Nurturing yoga’s astonishing healing powers is a privilege and a joy. Find out more about my passion for yoga here, including my training, experience and what got me to my first yoga class.
Why I Teach
One translation of a yoga teacher is a darkness dispeller. I love that because yoga dissipated so much darkness for me. I want to dispel darkness for others. I bring a sensitivity to my teaching that helps me to listen and respond well. I also like to watch magic happen. Why else? Find out here.
What’s My Training
I’ve been doing yoga since 1994 and a teacher since 2002, completing my formal training at Om Yoga Center in Manhattan 2003. I specialize in vinyasa yoga and restorative yoga. Registered with the Yoga Alliance as yoga teacher, I’ve attended many workshops and trainings in the last decade. Find out more here.
Nothing makes me happier than happy clients. My clients are funny also! You can check out spontaneous utterances in a session, how clients feel after a session, and general nice stuff about me here.
